Description

Iain Stewart reveals the effect that the Earth's winds have had on the development of civilisation. He visits the Saharan town of Chinguetti, once a vibrant transport hub, to learn how its success was due to global wind patterns, and explains how Christopher Columbus first made his name by mapping the trade winds off the coast of West Africa. Iain also shows how the rise of early Chinese civilisation was based on riches provided by the wind, but discovers a very different story at Australia's Mount Connor
